Qualifications for Assistant Professor Recruitment (as per UGC Regulations, June 30, 2010)
- Good Academic Record: Must have a good academic record defined by the University with at least 55% marks at the Master’s level in a relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a recognized foreign University.
- National Eligibility Test (NET): Should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR, or a similar accredited test like SLET/SET.
- Ph.D. Degree: Candidates with a Ph.D. degree, in accordance with UGC regulations (Minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree Regulation, 2009), are exempt from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
- Exemptions for Some Disciplines: NET/SLET/SET is not required for certain Master’s programs where these tests are not conducted.
- Relaxation for Reserved Categories: Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled) categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation at the graduate and Master’s level. This relaxation does not include any grace.
- M.Phil and Ph.D. Period Not Counted: Time taken to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D. degrees is not considered as Teaching/research experience for appointment purposes.
