Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

Number of Positions: 1

Minimum Experience: 10 years of practice in Criminal Law

Honorarium: Up to Rs 70,000- per month (after tax and other deductions)

Number of Positions: 1

Minimum Experience: 7 years of practice in Criminal Law

Honorarium: Up to Rs 50,000/- per month (after tax and other deductions)

Number of Positions: 1

Minimum Experience: 0-3 years of practice in Criminal Law

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Indian Constitution.
  • The appointments are temporary and contractual, and they do not confer permanent recognition.
  • Selected Legal Aid Defense Counsels (LADCs) will undergo a probation period of 3 months from the date of appointment. The maximum contract period is 2 years. LADCs are prohibited from taking on private cases or retainerships.
  • Extension of service may be considered after a break in service, subject to approval from the Executive Chairman of Assam State Legal Services Authority.
  • Applicants must submit filled application forms along with self-attested photocopies of relevant testimonials, a certificate of Length of Practice, and 2 recent passport-size photographs.
