Educational qualifications for Post Graduate Teachers-

1. The applicant must be a Post Graduate in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks (or its equivalent) from a recognized University and should possess a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) qualification from an institution recognized by National Council for Teacher Education. Degrees obtained in off-campus and distance education mode shall not be considered as valid.

2. The applicant should have appeared and passed the Higher Secondary Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in the concerned cadre, conducted by the Government, scoring a minimum of 60% marks in case of Un-reserved category candidates and a minimum of 55% marks in case of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes and Persons with disabilities candidates.

Provided that the teachers working regularly against a sanctioned Graduate post in any Provincialised High School or Higher Secondary School for a minimum period of 15 years having requisite academic and professional qualifications for the post of Post Graduate Teachers appearing and qualifying in TET shall be optional and they shall be awarded a weight-age of 60 marks for their 15 years of continuous teaching experience and those who have appeared and qualified in the TET shall get the TET qualified marks in lieu of the weight-age given for the experience.

Provided further that any experienced teacher who has appeared but could not secure the minimum qualifying 60 marks in the TET, shall be awarded at least 60 marks in respect of their experience if he or she has already completed 15 years of teaching experience, and marks secured by such experienced teacher over and above 60 qualifying marks in TET shall be counted additionally in respect of TET for such teacher for the purpose of selection for the post of Post Graduate Teacher.

3. In addition to the academic and professional qualifications, the applicant must satisfy the following criteria;

(a) In the case of Assamese Medium School, the applicant must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination with the Assamese language as one of the subjects or have a diploma in the Assamese Language issued by the Assam Sahitya Sabha or read up to HSLC level in Assamese medium School;

(b) In the case of Bengali Medium School, the applicant must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination with the Bengali language as one of the subjects or have a Diploma in Bengali issued by the Barak Upatyaka Bangla Sahitya O Sanskriti Sammelan or read up to HSLC level in Bengali medium School.

(c) In the case of Hindi Medium Schools, the applicant must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination in the Hindi language as one of the subjects or read up to HSLC level in Hindi Medium Schools.

(d) In the case of Bodo Medium School, the applicant must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination with Bodo language as one of the subjects or read up to HSLC level in Bodo medium school.

(e) In the case of English Medium Schools, the applicant must have passed HSLC or equivalent examination with alternative English as one of the subjects or read from Class XI onwards in English medium school. Provided that for recruitment of teachers for teaching MIL subjects the candidate who passed HSLC Examination with a particular MIL Subject shall be considered.

Physical fitness for the post of Post Graduate Teacher

The applicant for the post of Graduate teacher shall be:-

1. of sound health both mentally and physically and free from any organic defect or bodily infirmity which is likely to interfere in the efficient performance of his duties; and

2. required to undergo medical examination before appointment to the service.

Selection Criteria for the Post of Post Graduate Teacher

100 marks on the percentage of marks in MA/ M.Com/ M.Sc. Examination

100 marks on the percentage of marks in BA/ B.Com/ B.Sc. Examination (in case of Major/ Hons. The marks obtained in Major/ Hons shall be taken into consideration).

100 marks on the percentage of marks in the HSS final examination.

100 marks on the percentage of B.T./ B.Ed. Examination;

100 marks on the percentage of marks in the TET Examination or 60 marks for 15 years of experience as a Graduate Teacher in Provincialised High/Higher Secondary School having requisite academic and professional qualifications.

Any experienced teacher who has appeared but could not secure the minimum qualifying 60 marks in the TET, shall be awarded at least 60 marks in respect of their experience if he or she has already completed 15 years of teaching experience.

Any marks secured by such experienced teacher over and above 60 qualifying marks in TET shall be counted additionally in respect of TET for the such teacher;

Explanation-

 For the purpose of calculation of marks under the categories mentioned in the above clauses

if a candidate secures, for example, 60% marks in a particular examination then he/she secures 60 marks out of 100 marks allotted in the concerned examination.

10 marks for the NCC certificate (10 marks for a ‘C’ Certificate and 5 marks for a ‘B’ certificate);

10 marks for participation in recognized sports at the National level representing Assam;

10 marks for achievements in Fine Arts and Cultural activities representing the State officially at the National level;

Important Point for the Post of Post Graduate Teacher

District-wise, Subject-wise, and Medium-wise separate Merit Lists will be prepared for each category of the post.

No person having more than two living children on or after 01/01/2021 from single or multiple partners shall be eligible for appointment as per the Govt. policy on Small Family Norms, the Guidelines contained in Notification No. ABP.69/2019/17 dated 06/11/2019 and No. ABP.69/2019/18 dated 16/11/2019In pursuance of the Govt. OM No. ASE.238/2014/213, dtd. 22.11.2019, those Institutions having territorial jurisdiction outside the State of Assam but having a study center in the State and such study centers if not recognized by DEC under UGC, the degrees/certificates issued by such off-campus Institutions shall not be considered as valid for the purpose of employment under Education Department.

However, degrees/diplomas conferred by the KKHSOU, IGNOU, IDOL under Gauhati University, and distance education under Dibrugarh University shall be considered valid for the purpose of employment. The applicants applying for the post of UR category and OBC / MOBC / ST (P) / ST(H) / PWD category must have a minimum of 60% and 55% marks in both papers in Higher Secondary TET.

No offline application will be accepted in this regard.

The Teachers working regularly against a sanctioned Graduate post in any Provincialised High School /Higher Secondary School for a minimum period of 15 years having requisite academic and professional qualifications, who have also appeared in the TET examination and qualified or could not secure minimum qualifying marks, may also apply for the post of Post Graduate Teacher.

During the selection, the Rules adhered to in the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) Service Rules, 2018 will be strictly followed.

If an applicant desires to apply in more than one district, a separate online application will be required.

Candidates can appear in the interview/ verification process in multiple Districts provided they are in a position to appear in such interview/ verification process which could be conducted by the Selection Committee, simultaneously in all the Districts at the same date and time.

The online applications and documents submitted by the candidates will be verified along with their original testimonials at the District Headquarters of the concerned district. The district-wise detailed schedule and venue for screening/verification of documents will be notified on the official website. No TA / DA is admissible for the verification process. District-wise verification will be conducted simultaneously on the same date and time in the districts. Candidates will be informed collectively by the Director of Secondary Education, Assam on the official website.

The online application and documents submitted by the candidate will be verified using modern technology with the help of DigiLocker, Govt. of India, and by Scanning Barcode or QR Code to ensure the uploaded documents’ genuineness as well as by the back-office verification with the competent board/council/authority. But the authority if desired may conduct physical document verification at any point in time with proper notice.

The candidates must ensure the genuineness of all the information/documents uploaded against the online application and he/she will be solely responsible for the information/documents uploaded against his / her online application. Once uploaded, there will be no scope of correction in respect of the credential submitted by the candidate. Any discrepancy will lead to the cancellation of the candidature.

No additional documents will be accepted if it is submitted after the closing of the online application process.

The candidature will be canceled forthwith if any kind of fraudulence/discrepancy regarding any information/documents uploaded by the candidate is detected by the appropriate authority at any point in time.

The candidate will be debarred from any future recruitment under the Government of Assam and subsequent legal action will also be initiated against such candidate.

A candidate will mention and select the name of the district for which the application is submitted. When the candidates appear for the verification/screening process, they must produce certificates, testimonials, and all other documents, in original, that were uploaded during the application stage.

The candidates having NOT CLEAR (NC) status against any qualification will not be eligible to apply.

There shall be reservations for OBC / MOBC / SC / ST(P) / ST(H) / PWD / WOMEN/ EX-SERVICEMEN etc., as per existing Government Rules.

The following self-attested color copies of certificates and documents are to be submitted online;

Mark sheet of HSLC, HSSLC, Graduation, and Post Graduation.

Pass Certificate of HSLC, HSSLC, Graduation, and Post Graduation.

Pass Certificate of H. S. L. C. / H. S. L. C. Admit Card in support of age.

Certificate and Mark sheet of Higher Secondary TET.

Certificate and Mark sheet of B.Ed.

Certificates in support of Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe (Plains or Hills) / OBC/ MOBC.

Candidates with disabilities will have to enclose certificates of disabilities issued by Govt. of the authority.

Certificate of NCC (B & C Category only)

Certificate of recognized Sports at the national level representing Assam

Certificate of Achievements in fine arts and cultural activities representing the State officially at the national level.

Certificate of Ex-servicemen issued by the Director, Sainik Welfare Board.

No, Ctet passed candidates can apply only for Lower and Upper Primary school teacher vacancies. For graduate-level vacancies, candidates must be qualified Assam graduate-level Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by the Government of Assam.
