Assam Career The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) located across Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Calcutta, Indore, Jammu, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur, and Visakhapatnam will be conducting the Common Admission Test 2023 (CAT 2023) on November 26, 2023, in three sessions.

Introduction

CAT 2023 is a computer-based test and serves as a prerequisite for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programs offered by IIMs.

 Additionally, the CAT 2023 scores can be used by listed non-IIM member institutions. Interested candidates can find the list of such institutions on the CAT website.

However, it is essential to note that IIMs do not play a role in the selection process of non-IIM institutions.

Eligibility

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories], awarded by any University or educational institution as incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State legislature in India or declared to be deemed as an University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee shortlisting by IIMs, so applicants must fulfill all the required conditions.

To be eligible for CAT 2023, candidates must meet any one of the following conditions-

a) Have completed a Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks.

b) Have completed a professional degree such as CA/CS/ICWA/Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI) with the required percentage.

c) Be in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage.

For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum percentage required is 45%. For General, EWS, and NC-OBC candidates, the minimum percentage required is 50%.

Application Fee

RS 1200 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, and RS 2400 for all other candidates.

It is important to note that a candidate needs to pay the registration fee only once, regardless of the number of institutes he/she is applying to. SC, ST, and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PwD certificates during the registration process. Please be aware that the registration fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

How to Apply

The CAT 2023 registration process will commence on August 2, 2023, at 10:00 A.M and will conclude on September 13, 2023, at 5:00 P.M.

The detailed registration guide will provide all the necessary information. During registration, candidates are required to choose any six test cities from a drop-down menu based on their preferences.

After the registration deadline, candidates will be allotted one of the six preferred cities, depending on availability. In the rare event that a candidate is not assigned any of the preferred cities, they will be allotted a nearby city.

Candidates can access their admit cards from October 25, 2023, until November 26, 2023, for downloading.

Admission Process

It is essential to understand that each IIM has the autonomy to establish its unique eligibility criteria, which may involve academic cut-offs and relative weights, and follow distinct selection procedures.

CAT 2023 examination results hold significant importance in the consideration for the selection process. Additionally, IIMs may take into account the candidates’ previous academic performance, relevant work experience, and similar factors during the short-listing of candidates at various stages of the selection process.
