Educational qualifications

A Graduate or equivalent degree/diploma from a recognized University or Educational Institution in Assam or an HSSLC/10+2 with 2-5 years of experience working in DEOC.

Completion of at least a six-month certificate/diploma course in computer application. Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Surfing is required.

Proficiency in spoken Assamese, English, and Hindi. Candidates who are currently working in DEOCs will be given preference.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old and not more than 43 years old as of 01.01.2023.

Salary- RS 13,863 per month.

Selection Criteria

Date of Interview- 09/03/2023. Candidates shall report in the Conference Room of the District Emergency Operation Centre, District Disaster Management Authority, and Deputy Commissioner Nagaon from 10.00 AM onwards with all original documents.

Candidates reporting after 11:30 AM shall not be entertained for interviews. No TA/DA shall be given to the candidates for appearing in the interview.

Duties and responsibilities

The Information Assistants at the DEOC will ensure that there is no disruption in the functioning of the center. They will hand over their duties to the next shift personnel after briefing them about the previous shift’s activities.

The Information Assistants will be responsible for checking all the equipment and notifying the In-Charge (IC), and DEOC/DPO immediately if repairs are needed.

The Information Assistants will collect telephone bills and submit them to the IC for payment every month to prevent disconnection.

Any information received from various sources such as Revenue Circles, Police Control Room, News Channels, etc., will be recorded in the DEOC’s logbook and updated to the IC.

The information received will be verified or cross-checked with various authorities such as SDO (Civil), CO, DPO, DDMA, Field Officer(DM), Police Control Room, Police Station, and Fire & Emergency Service Station of the concerned area.

After verification, the information will be disseminated to the designated contacts through SMS/phone. Detailed reports will be disseminated through email after approval by the IC.

The Information Assistants will periodically update the contact details available in the EOC.

Verified information will be disseminated to the concerned agencies such as Fire Services, 108/Medical, Police Control Room, etc., through WT Msg. or other means of communication with the help of APRO personnel when necessary.

During the flood season, Information Assistants deployed in the morning shift will collect reports on rainfall in the last 24 hours from IMD and water levels from Water Resources Deptt./ CWC/IMD/Agriculture dept.

Information Assistants deployed in the morning shift will call the CO of all Revenue Circles/Field Officers, DDMA for flood reports of the last 24 hours, every day between 8-10 AM during the flood season. They will ensure timely preparation of the daily report submission of the same to SEOC by 2 PM every day.

Reports collected from the Revenue Circles will be compiled in prescribed formats by 12 noon during the flood season, and Reports signed by DC/ADC cum CEO, DDMA/IC will be sent to SEOC through email/fax latest by 2 PM every day.

The Information Assistants on duty during the flood season will disseminate FLEWS (Flood Early Warning System) information and other information received from SEOC/NESAC to concerned Revenue Circle Officers/ Field Officers after approval of the IC.

Reports on any other incidents such as an earthquake will be collected from IMD/USGS reports and disseminated to all concerned officials after approval by the IC.
